I remember when I still worked on the roof, how many guys fell for this. I know it is not very mature to even post this but hey it got boring sometimes. It was a great laugh when I was younger.

I remember when I was in the Air Force & sending the stupid kids (mostly the ones who had never left the city or their suburban neighborhoods) out to various other shops to ask for 50 ft. of flight line or ask for a left handed hammer.

It was a great way to identify the knuckleheads (of course, I never fell for this... let me tell you about the time my Dad & Uncle left me in the woods @ night from a "Snipe Hunting" run out @ my Grandparent's place & I made it back to the house before them).

Ranch,
Have you had the chance to try those 2 techniques for the different roof slopes in Xactimate yet?

Maturity is over rated.

I personally like to ask someone to grab the sky hook from the trailer for me whenever I'm getting on a steep roof.

"What does it look like?" They will yell from the yard.

"you'll know it when you see it." Sometimes it takes 20 minutes. LOL

i send guys to home depot to get a "one-D-ten-T"

i tell them, then they get there and call me asking where it is, i asked them if they wrote it down (always say no) then when they do, to ask someone who works there.

Anyone ever balance the new guys hammer?

If we're stepping shingles up the roof, I'll run up a bundle and drop back down and let the new guy continue where I left off. Sometimes I nail my last shingle upside down just to see how they react.

If you're gonna try that trick, you should tell someone else about it before you do, otherwise, they'll just think you are drunk.
