As we all know, everyone has their own way of doings things, not a wrong or right way, just their own way...

Let see what marketing techniques some are using over other techniques and what kind of results they are producing...

Maybe we can all learn something...

Of course, some people have their ways and are not willing to change, but...
If we are marketing one way and selling 15-20 roofs a month, and we market the same way next month, we are only gonna sell 15-20 roofs again, so lets see what each of us can bring to the table and see if we can change for the better.

You know I try all kinds of stuff and referrals seem to be the only thing consistent and my local newspaper 90.00 a month for half a sentence but it keeps me busy. I do flyers alot it's half and half. I think it's all about stability of your business that's why people are willing top pay that high price for the one's who have been around. I could use a few pointers from someone.

Ok,

To start, we don't use the phonebooks at all...
We may start running a small color ad though...

No newspaper or Thrifty Nickel ads...
Currently no TV or Radio...Soon to change..

1 Billboard- $400/Month
(2 Leads/2 Sales in 4 months)

Yard Signs on every job
12- Full Color Banners 2.5' x 6'
Placed on Very high traffic areas...
Friends of Friends of Friends^

And then there is Internet.
-
We spend on average of $300/Month
Email Marketing Campaigns- Realtors, Insurance Agents,
Property Managers, Builders, and Churches.
Steep "Shown" Discounts to Church Staff<
Thorough- Detailed Website..
Google adwords-
Google local business listings
Yahoo Local
MSN Local

Internet is the new everything as most of you know...

We also do alot with/for the community...
Chamber of Commerce has a "Business after-hours" every thursday, the who's who of everything attends...Good prospects and leads there...

Also help with any charity possible, Race for the cure, Opportunities, MADD, MDA Lock-up...ect.ect..

trucks "I see your trucks everywhere!"

signs "I see your signs everywhere!"

1 phonebook has good amount of leads (you have to know which book is most popular in your area)

website (we bought 112 domain names and linked them to our site)

word of mouth

I joined Rotary International last year and have gotten a TON of business from the other members!!!!

here is where my money goes (my monthly advertising budget is $15,000 but i go over a couple grand sometimes)

myspace = $free (i get 1 or 2 leads a month from it!!)

yard signs. $325 for 100 signs. we generally order 200 a month. so $650

door hangers. $300 for 4,000.

door magnets (which i HATE) are $50 a pair. i give these to the crews, part time guys, repair guys, secretary, ect. i usually get a couple of pair a month, because they get lost, ruined, stolen, blow off, etc. $100ish

ATT yellow pages. $5,000. this is for a 2 page, full color ad under roofers, another ad in siding and gutters, and general contractors. this is also for the yellowpages.com ad, the video, and just signed up for google ads.

im also in 5 other phone books, totalling $5,000 a month for all of them.

then, this year ive been trying to do at least one, or two vehicle wraps a month for our salesmen. $2,000ish.

i also sponsor a sprint car, and am looking to sponsor a pro fisherman, a drag car, and possibly a couple of other guys. the only cost is a wrap, or stickers, plus a donation (anywhere from $500-2,500 depending on exposure)

the newest thing im doing this year, is the digital L.E.D. full color billboards. they are $3,500 a month... EACH. i was on a few, but now dropped down to just one.

and i do pay a referral fee of $100 to anyone who gets me a job. and if they are a paid customer who we did a roof for, their first two referrals are $250 each.

with all of that, and doing as much charity work as i can do for churches, and people in need who cant afford a new roof... i may not make as much bottom line profit as i could be making if i was just greedy... i believe it will all come back to me in the long run.

yea, i know thats over $16,500 before i do any of my sponsor, or charity stuff... but it works. Smile

It's been that high and paying off for over a year, and I'm still bringing in anywhere from 500-750k a month in sales.

When sales drop, so will my ad budget.

Agape,
No offence intended but, You are in an area that needs
60,000 + roofs replaced from storm damage, so no one else here has the kind of volume and budget that you have to work with, so again no offence but, you are shooting fish in a bucket, and a dry hook will work....

Agape, Good for you. That must be a benefit to working in storm damaged areas.
