Just a friendly reminder.
When the heat is what it has been (I'm in Texas), let's not forget the safety of our crews. I had a guy fainton a roof and had to be rushed in an ambulance to the hospital. We're doing this for our customers and the profit, but these guys have families and their saftey should be our priority. I show up everyday with a cooler of bottled water, and re-up around noon or so. but I can't get the one idiot up there who's swigging Pepsi's. I might start letting these type workers go. I can't, in good conscience, let them do that on my project.

WATER, WATER, WATER!!!

Well I for one applaud your efforts keeping your employees hydrated. I have yet to work for a company that provides water. It's even a Worksafe BC (our WCB) regulation for employers to supply potable (yes kage that says potable and not portable  ) water to jobsites. But that regulation is overlooked by employers, they figure if you're working outside and don't bring your own water then you're stupid.
I wonder how they (employer) would feel if I "overlooked" putting on my rope and harness today?? lol

Water is great, but it's not enough, we also need electrolytes. Add some sea salt and cane sugar to some water, it'll replenish that bodies salt losses and avoid muscle cramping.

I should have free stock shares with DejaBlue. I buy about 20 cases a week.We buy ice and provide the coolers.I heard from another contractor in STL that OSHA now requires water to be on site. Each worker should have access to at least one quart per hour for the duration of the shift.

Everyone is on site @ 5:30 a.m and off by 2pm. Most can handle the heat but the shingles cannot with the foot traffic. Sponges and carpet do not work @ 100 plus.

Kage, so you are saying a employee that brings some hydration (and by hydration could mean going further than just water to better their preformace for the day) to work reguardless if it is provided already is a "whiner" ? Im confused. Are you employed or a employee of a business? Do you own (as in incorporated and or self employeed solely?) and have employees? With a month of highs over 100 every day with humidity like it is here every day I take offence to that.

I work for a wonderful contractor in Seattle where heat is not always there. When it is, the contractor is always on top of heat stress meetings as well as supplying all required to stay hydrated. Safety is the number one issue! There is nothing else to top it.

My question included not just liquids brought. And included if you are a owner/employer or a employee/forman or such. Keep in mind you were in general posting your response to the first post, a newer that made a good point. I love hydration, would love to know learn to negotiate a "camel pack" with my harness lol

I think Kage answered the question clearly even if not so clear.

Why I love the company I have worked for for 15 years.

Safety is number one and demonstrated at every turn.

Quality and production come second and always will.

Safety, quality, production and in that order.

I love Snyder Roofing of Wa.
