Hi,

I take the shingles off and then roll up the felt. Take the roof off in reverse of putting it on.

Some cases we let the old felt on. Not often, will not try to explain.

yea its not really complicated.......... if you you tear off apply felt paper.... NEW felt paper

your contractor is trying to just pocket more cash at the expense of your roof !!

i like to roll the old felt up too Lefty. Keep the roll tight and you can save a lot of clean-up too by trapping the debris in the roll

on 2 layers-roll felt afterward,on 1 layer it sometimes hellps to remove larger sections w/the felt--felt is a vapor barrier-2 layers can trap condensation and project ripples through the new shingles
