I just got a quote for materials on a job I'm pricing for petersen standing seam alum roof. It's just a front porch, like 6 sqaure, 8' panels.

THEY WANT TO CHARGE ME $1300 FOR SHIPPING CAN THIS BE RIGHT?!?!?!?

Also, I know that a lot of guys in my area do not use bits and pieces from one manufacturer. They will have their accessories fabricated and find someone with a machine to make panels for them out of 24 gauge. Is this common or is it more common to deal directly with one manufacturer for everything?

Never been charged more than $150 for shipping. Orders were always delivered with a full load and other drops.

I used to order the panels and flat stock from the manufacturer then bend our own accessories. Last job I did we had a local guy run off panels and bought the flat through him. A few of the panels were less than desirable and were returned. Unsure what I'll do on the next one.

I'd be concerned about colors matching with one shop fabricating and another company running panels

Hello,

Shangle, I was going to suggest AEPSPAN but I checked their website and they have pulled out of the East coast. They offer the total package. Panels and all trim. The company I used to work for has 5 panel machines and their own metal shop. Were I work now we have a company come out and fab on site, they are a metal shop so they make all the trim also.
As far as the price of shipping.... when you ship panels and a trim kit it is going to cost. Metal weighs a bit. You should just add it into the bid. Explain to the customer that for a 50+ year roof they may have to pay a little more.

Here re several links for you. The last one has a location in Richmond.
