Do you expect another manufacterer's color to match Certainteed's Heather Blend well enough to go together on a new roof?

Sounds like someone mis-measured or they wasted alot. Nothing i know of will match but i do know OC colors atleast in 3 tab match rather well to certainteeds landmarks. They did there at a place i worked and you could not tell at all a perfect match. But as far as a dim i think your out of luck.

Certainteed Heather Blend
Closest equivalents:
OC-Teak
Atlas-Heather Blend
Tamko-Rustic Slate
GAF/Elk-Barkwood
IKO-Heatherwood

None are that close. Different shading, shadowband, etc.

This is where having a good relationship with your supplier would come in handy. When I was a salesman, I would open up shop and/or deliver this stuff to help out my customers. Corporate didnt like it, but I felt it was the right thing to do.

Aqua, I'm sure you've solved your problem by now, but you need to run a little extra paper and cap it in and go back with the right shingles. I always order high, I've had as much as 7 extra square once on a cut up 40 square job. Not sure how I botched it that bad but I still prefer it to running short.
